EDL 585: Foundations of Teacher Leadership

Welcome to the Master's of Teacher Leadership (MTL) Program at the University of Illinois at Springfield. Over the next 16 weeks you will become more familiar with the MTL program; learn about the expectations your professors and classmates hold of you; learn what you can expect from those who will be working with you; and build the foundational skills for your success in this fully online program.

Lessons

Most lessons will have four sections:

• The Leadership strand focuses on the content and background that will help you develop the strategies, disposition, subject matter expertise, and skills to help you become a leader in your work community.
• The Research and Writing strand will guide you to develop investigation and communication skills to stay current with innovations, nurture innovative ideas of your own, and communicate those same ideas to help you implement plans and inspire those with whom you work.
• The Technology strand is designed to help you become more proficient as a computer user and to help you get organized as an online learner.
• Finally, the Assignments section gives you a chance to demonstrate your application and understanding of the knowledge and skills from the other sections in concrete and practical ways.
