After you work through this lesson, please complete the following assignments.

Discuss

Assignment 1: Present the group project to your home group

This week you will present the project piece you helped develop to members of your Home group. Start a new thread and post a message telling them about your Expert group's contribution to the class wiki. Draw your team mates' attention to things you think are particularly interesting or important. If appropriate, you might share the specific challenges your Expert group faced as they worked on this project.

Response: Due mid-week

Return to your group space near the end of the week. Review the posted messages and the relevant portions of the wiki and reply to your team mates and also to the messages they left for you.

Grading

Your initial posting is worth 24 points. I hope you will check back to participate in any dialogue that may ensue.

Assignment 2: Turn in Reflection Paper

Review the guidelines for reflective writing and submit a 1200-word (plus or minus 150 words) essay on one or more aspects of this class and/or the MTL program. You might find it helpful to review Lesson 11's Writing and Research Strand for guidance on reflective writing. Submit the PDF file named lastname_reflection.pdf to your instructor.

Due end-of-week

Grading

Your Reflection Paper is worth 100 points.

Assignment 3 Replacement: Complete the Student Assessment of Learning Gains (SALG)

The SALG Survey is a course evaluation tool that allows professors can customize to get maximum information about how various components of a course contributed to students' learning. Visit the Important Announcements from Becky to find out how to gain access to the SALG designed especially for EDL 585 B. Once you log in, the system will assign a random ID to you. Becky will be able to tell whether or not you completed the SALG, but not what you said.

Due end-of-week

Grading

Completing the SALG is worth 25 points

Assignment 4: Group Evaluations

Please evaluate yourself and each member of your Expert group against the group project rubric. I encourage you to make comments elaborating your ratings as you feel necessary. Submit these evaluations through the Assignments manager. You are to complete these evaluations honestly and independently.

CANCELLED Assignment 3: Submit plus/minus/delta evaluation CANCELLED

The Plus/Minus/Delta Activity is completed at the end of each class. The purpose is to provide feedback to the professor, as well as to the program. We use the information in this activity to strengthen and improve our classes and program. It is your chance to make suggestions to help improve the class. Be sure to include a brief note of explanation so we understand the rationale for your suggestions. To complete this activity, please tell us:

  • Plus - The Plus part is where you list the positive aspects of the class. These are things that you would want to say, "Never ever get rid of this part. It was important!" These can be assignments, activities, or policies.
  • Minus - The Minus part is for the things you think should not be a part of the class. It might be that it was too easy, or unimportant, or better later in the program, or any other number of possibilities.
  • Delta - The Delta is for things you would change. What would you have liked to have in the class, but didn't? A topic you needed more help on? Something you thought would have been interesting or relevant that we missed? Do you have an idea for doing something better?

You can submit this as a narrative, a chart, bullet points, or anything else that makes sense. Convert your file to PDF, name it lastname_pmd.pdf and submit it to the instructor.

Grading

Plus/Minus/Delta is worth 25 points.
