Rebecca's Bio

Currently

I'm currently a full-time student attending the University of Central Florida on a Presidential Fellowship. I'm working on a Ph. D. in Education in the Instructional Technology track. I'm interested in online education and how to make it better.

In addition to attending classes and doing homework, I'm an assistant with the Instructional Technology Resource Center (ITRC) at UCF. The Executive Director is Dr. Donna Baumbach.

The ITRC is home to several exciting projects:

• The Florida Online Reading Professional Development program, a staff development initiative designed to equip Florida's teachers with research-based instructional strategies to improve the teaching of reading
• ITRC collaborates with SEIR*TEC to offer Online Classes for Educators. I help facilitate several of those classes.
• SUNLINK, a union database, for Florida's K-12 libraries

Previously

I worked in Florida's schools for 20 years before going back to school. My jobs have included:

• Elementary general music teacher for 10 years
• Itinerant strings teacher for 2 years
• Middle school computer teacher for 1 year
• Technology specialist at a middle school for 7 years

Throughout the last 10 years, I've worked in staff development activities. Most of the workshops have focused on helping teachers use technology for increased productivity, better communication and to integrate technology into their curriculum.
