Posting your
WebQuest
There
are three general approaches to putting your WebQuest on the web.
- Host it on your school
server. Ask the server administrator for details on how to post it.
- Host it on your own
Internet Service Provider (ISP). Contact your ISP for instructions on
posting your WebQuest.
- Use an online tool to
host your web.
- Filamentality
is free and easy to use.
- aclearn.net
offers WebQuest templates in an online generator.
- Web-and-Flow
costs $25/year, is easy to use, and comes with advice.
- TeacherWeb
offers free space for WebQuests. Classroom websites cost $25/year.
- Class
Compass offers a WebQuest (and more!) for districts. Individuals
can purchase for $40/year.
If you decide to host it
on your school server or on your own ISP, you will edit the pages from
the WebQuest template you downloaded on the Resources page.
If you are already familiar
with a web page editing tool, go ahead and use it. There are many options
available. I'm including links to several you might choose to use. Regardless
of which web page editor you choose, you will need to master some basic
skills to edit the pages.

Templates available for download. Because of Dreamweaver's popularity,
the web is home to many tutorials and other resources to increase your skills.
The editing skills required to
use the WebQuest Templates are minimal. Please use the tutorial resources and
Dreamweaver's online help, to master the skills listed above. If you
haven't already, be sure to download one of the WebQuest

Tutorial Sites for Netscape
Composer
Netscape Composer is probably
already on your computer. If it's not, you can download it as part of Netscape's
web browser at no charge. Patricia Pecoy from Furman University created this
useful
tutorial. You can use Composer to edit the pages in the WebQuest template.
Montana State University has
a 6-step
tutorial for using Netscape Composer.
Use
the tool of your choice to create the pages to your WebQuest. Once you've
finished all the pages you can post your new WebQuest in whatever way works
best for you. Think it's pretty good? Go to Bernie Dodge's WebQuest page
and submit it. |
